Medical Humanities is an interdisciplinary study the relationship of the Arts to Medical Practice. Medical Humanities is a rapidly expanding research
field in the Europe and North America as the importance of Humanities training for doctors and nurses becomes widely recognised. Fresh ideas about medical practice
are discovered through the study of history, literature, art, film, politics, psychology and archaeology. Training in arts research skills and methodologies
may further develop in turn the analytical skills to not only discuss, the history of medicine and the public image of the doctor, race, gender, the treatment
of mental illness and of the elderly but also a heightened ability to observe patients more carefully.
